Impact and Abrasion MVP (Most Valuable (wear) Plate)
Nearly all CCO (Chrome Carbide Overlay) plate is designed for moderate impact. When your need for impact resistance exceeds every conventional clad plate, it is time to step up to the Next Level of Impact Resistance.
CHROMEWELD™ Ti was designed for use in difficult abrasion applications, having significant impact. JADCO developed CHROMEWELD ™ Ti to be superior to every other abrasion resistant CCO product available.
We Did It By Boosting The Titanium Levels To Resist Substantial Impact
The Titanium Carbides are the small dark particles in this photo micrograph, finely dispersed throughout the entire overlay. The 125-micron is shown for size and scale reference. For comparison, one inch equals 25,400 microns.
Adding Titanium Carbides to the Chrome Carbides, delivers an overlay with the ability to withstand significant impact.
Traditional CCO plates quickly fail, as shown here where chunks of a competitor’s popular CCO plate were bashed out of the debarking drum discharge chute. This application has 10” diameter x 8’ logs beating on it continuously, to smash the bark off of the logs. Normal CCO plates cannot tolerate that level of abuse for 16+ hours daily. That is next level CCO performance!
Adding Titanium results in Chromeweld™ Ti being slightly less abrasive resistant than our industry leading CHROMEWELD 600 ™. But it definitely is more abrasive resistant than any heat-treated plate, such as any of the AR type steels. It has even more abrasive resistance than our own QT-PLUS ®.
Chromeweld™ Ti effectively bridges the gap where you would like to use a CCO plate for abrasion resistance, but are fearful your installation has too much impact.
