JADCO PARTNERS WITH WEARVUE TO MAKE INDUSTRIAL WEAR MONITORING INSTANTLY VISIBLE
Partnership offers clients JADCO wear-resistant materials and fabrication capabilities with Australian-developed visual wear-monitoring technology
JADCO Manufacturing has partnered with WearVue, an Australian-founded industrial technology company, to provide mining and heavy-industry operators with a simpler, safer way to monitor wear in critical equipment.
Based in Perth, Western Australia, WearVue developed a patented, color-coded wear-monitoring system that allows maintenance teams to evaluate equipment condition visually. JADCO integrates the indicators into its wear-resistant steel products and custom-fabricated components, providing customers with a complete wear-protection and monitoring solution.
The partnership combines WearVue’s visual monitoring technology with JADCO’s experience manufacturing and fabricating impact- and abrasion-resistant steel products for demanding industrial applications.
A recent customer project demonstrates how the combined solution works.
JADCO fabricated chutes lined with CHROMEWELD™ chromium carbide overlay plate and integrated WearVue indicators into the liner system. The CHROMEWELD provides protection against severe abrasion, while the indicators give maintenance personnel a clear visual reference for evaluating the remaining wear life.
Together, the technologies provide a system that protects the chutes while making their condition easier to evaluate during routine inspections.
From Guesswork to Visual Confirmation
Traditional wear monitoring frequently depends on manual measurements, ultrasonic thickness testing, specialized inspection personnel, or an unexpected equipment failure that reveals the liner should have been replaced sooner.
WearVue changes that process by placing layered, color-coded indicators directly into the wear liner.
As the surrounding material wears, different colors become visible:
Green: The component remains in good operating condition.
Yellow: Significant wear has occurred, and maintenance personnel should begin scheduling replacement and ordering the necessary materials.
Red: Wear has reached a critical level, and the component should be replaced to help prevent equipment damage or failure.
The passive indicators used in this application require no electronics or moving parts. Maintenance teams can quickly identify the wear stage during a routine visual inspection, often without entering hazardous areas or shutting down equipment for extensive testing.
Supporting Faster Maintenance Decisions
For the customer, the CHROMEWELD and WearVue installation provides several potential operational benefits:
- More proactive maintenance scheduling
- Better planning for replacement liners
- Reduced dependence on specialized testing equipment
- Faster and more consistent inspection decisions
- Improved visibility into liner condition
- Lower risk of unexpected equipment failure
- Reduced exposure to potentially hazardous inspection areas
- Greater confidence when planning maintenance shutdowns
The visual system also helps make wear monitoring more consistent among employees with different levels of inspection experience. Because the indicators follow the familiar green, yellow, and red traffic-light sequence, personnel can understand the component’s general condition without interpreting complex measurements.
Combining Protection With Information
JADCO’s partnership with WearVue reflects a broader approach to industrial wear management.
Providing a longer-lasting wear liner remains important. However, helping customers understand when that liner is approaching the end of its usable life can be equally valuable.
By combining JADCO wear-resistant materials, application experience, custom fabrication, and WearVue’s visual indicator technology, customers receive more than a replacement liner. They receive a wear-management system designed to provide both physical protection and actionable maintenance information.
WearVue indicators can be integrated into wear liners, clad plates, haul-truck trays, chutes, and other high-wear components. JADCO works with maintenance and engineering teams to determine the appropriate materials, indicator locations, and fabrication requirements for each application.
For operations focused on reducing downtime, improving inspection safety, and making maintenance decisions sooner, the JADCO and WearVue partnership provides a straightforward solution:
No complicated inspection process. No unnecessary guesswork. Just clearly visible wear information when maintenance teams need it.
