Prioritize Your Greatest Challenge

The way you get more freedom and time in your life, is to get through the tough spots as quickly as possible.

HOW?

Prioritize the essential developments for your business, to create the necessary leaps forward. This is more important than any emails. Once this has been identified and listed in order of importance, you can then focus on the day to day tasks that try to derail you from the strategic goals.

Make your To-Do-List the night before of the tasks you need to accomplish the next day. Many people are most productive first thing in the morning.

It is difficult to know where to start looking so you are not spinning your wheels, and looking at materials that will not move your efforts forward.

Don’t Do Anything Else, Until You Have Checked Off Your First And Most Important Task Of The Day

Leaky Elbows
The volume of wood chips escaping from this elbow needed to be cleaned up by order of the Dept of Natural Resources, to avoid penalties for water contaminating the river. This resulted in costs of $2,000 per week for an outside contractor for clean it up. It doesn’t take long to justify using better materials to stop this wear problem.

Environmental oversight means the problem cannot be ignored. It must be dealt with promptly.

Elbows are a constant challenge in every wood handling industry. Pneumatic blow lines are effective, but where the material changes direction, the elbow has constant wear. On any pneumatic system, air leaks create loss of pressure, resulting in unproductive material transport.

Blow Line Elbows - Worn Wear Steel
One of the most common wear challenges for pulp and papermills are blow line elbows. Wood chips are incredibly abrasive, and continually blasting chips at the same location in the elbow results in holes and a clean-up nightmare.

Are you mentally prepared to attack your most important task for the day?

It is easy to say, “I’ll research which steel is the best solution for our wear issues.”

It is quite another to know which company has the experience and reputation as the best in your industry, ready to assist your efforts.

Wear Back Replacement Wear Steel
Replacing just the wear back rather than the entire elbow, dramatically saves both labor and material expenses.

To effectively battle the Severe Fine Particle Abrasion you find in wood industries, JADCO developed CHROMEWELD ™ Nb PLUS.

CHROMEWELD ™ Nb PLUS adds smaller, dense Niobium Carbides locked into the matrix between the larger Chromium Carbides. This provides you with a superior abrasion resistant product to combat high velocity, fine material wear.

Why Do We Combine Niobium Carbides With Chrome Carbides?

Carbides rarely wear out. What happens is the matrix holding the carbides wears away and the carbides simply fall out.

With fine materials in a high velocity blow line such as wood bark, the matrix steel is rapidly worn away. The Carbides have not worn away, but fall out after the matrix surrounding the carbides is gone.

JADCO’s CHROMEWELD ™ Nb PLUS adds smaller, harder Niobium Carbides between the larger Chrome Carbides. By locking in the larger Chrome Carbides, we are significantly delaying the effects of wear. This is how you can double your wear plate life in high stress abrasion applications by using Nb PLUS.

How Much Difference Is There Between Materials?

Wear Life Comparison
This comparison shows the difference in wear life performance between various wear plate materials used in flat back elbows. Are your elbows still using AR400 or AR500?

You can save material and labor costs by just replacing your failed elbow wear backs with CHROMEWELD ™ Nb PLUS, if the rest of the elbow is in good shape.

Since the replaceable wear back portion of the elbow takes 95% of the abrasion, this is where to upgrade your equipment without the expense of buying an entire new elbow.

Does it make sense to use anything except CHROMEWELD ™ Nb PLUS for your elbows? Not when you consider lost production, equipment rental costs and labor make the material price difference insignificant, compared to your current results.
