Work Differently, Not Harder
JADCO • Rich F.2023-08-31T13:11:54-04:00This quote from James Clear, author of Atomic Habits. It is great advice, particularly for anyone involved with production.
“You’re more likely to unlock a big leap in performance by trying differently, than by trying harder. You might be able to work 10% harder, but a different approach might work 10x better. Remain focused on the core problem, but explore a new line of attack. Persistence is not just about effort, but also strategy. Don’t merely try harder, try differently.” – James Clear
This statement explains perfectly why people who partner with JADCO representatives achieve better results. This is the opposite of others who are frustrated, as they continually replace the same wear resistant steel they always use.
Aggregate Wash Plant Wear.
Here is one example of working differently:
A long-time customer mentioned he needed to replace some wear plate in his wash plant once again. After asking several questions he confirmed that it didn’t matter if he used AR400, AR450 or AR500; not one would last an entire season.
This wash plant was eating through several AR450 wear plates during construction season. Here you can see where they have worn through four different patch plates before JADCO came aboard. Don’t waste your time throwing in one patch after another trying to limp by until the end of the season. Get JADCO involved for the best wear solutions in the industry.
Initially the AR steel plates he replaced lasted a couple more weeks than the OEM steel. In this application, trying one heat treated steel after another was not the best option.
Here Is Where Thinking Differently, Delivered Outstanding Results
By switching to an entirely different type of material, they were able to effectively combat the abrasion in their sand-water slurry system.
For extreme abrasion applications, Chromeweld 600 ™ is made by welding Chrome Carbide hardsurfacing to cover the mild steel base plate.
JADCO designed it to overcome your worst abrasion headaches.
Why Is Chromeweld 600 ™ Different?
Chrome Carbides form during the welding process, are packed closely together as seen in the above photo micrograph. The scale of 200 microns is shown for size comparison. One micron equals 1/25,000 of an inch.
These carbides are dramatically harder than heat-treated steels, particularly good when battling abrasion from small size particles.
JADCO suggested using Chromeweld 600 ™, their industry leading Chrome Carbide Overlay (CCO) wear plate in this application and the customer has not had to do any replacements on this equipment for several seasons.

CW 600 and our entire Chromeweld family of CCO products are made at our headquarters in Harmony, PA, 30 minutes North of Pittsburgh.
As the leading manufacturer of CCO plate in the USA, you can depend on what you get from JADCO. Most steel distributors buy foreign CCO which has little carbide content, and even less quality control. Want to know more…download our new CW600 Spec. Sheet.
